Surroundings
Mensdorf is the southernmost of the five towns in the Betzdorf municipality, and is part of the eastern canton of Grevenmacher. The first traces of a settlement date back to the time when the Metz-Trèves Roman road joined the Reims-Arlon-Trèves road between the present-day towns of Mensdorf and Beyren. At 386 m, the Widdebierg is one of the highest peaks in the canton of Grevenmacher, and was venerated as a Celtic deity, Deus veraudnus.

In the center of the village is a cultural center built over the former presbytery and school. The adjacent former forge has been restored and converted into a concert hall and meeting rooms. In addition, there are a number of small businesses as well as a cafe and a large playground.

The Menster Brill area stretches along the river Syr over an area of around 40 hectares, between Mensdorf and the bridge over the Luxembourg-Trèves freeway. It is part of the Schlammwiss-Brill nature reserve, signed in 2018, and forms the core of the European protected area of the Syre de Moutfort Roodt-Syre valley. It is home to over 150 different species of birds and other animals.

Mensdorf is in the immediate vicinity of several large towns such as Grevenmacher and Junglinster, as well as close to the German border. Luxembourg's Kirchberg is only 15 minutes away by car.

The Betzder Panorama-Tour is a 40.5 km circuit that goes all the way round the commune, offering magnificent views of the valley and its various localities. Because of its length, it is divided into 6 stages. Part of the route includes the \"Via Vera\" cultural trail, which tells the story of the commune with information panels.

Mobility
Roodt-sur-Syre railway station is only 2 minutes away by car, and is served by CFL line 30 (Luxembourg – Wasserbillig). Free parking is available at the station. Luxembourg-City central station is 25 minutes by train and Trèves central station 40 minutes.

The Mensdorf bus stop on rue de Roodt-Syre is within easy reach of the site and is served by routes 140 and 479. Route 140 serves the Junglinster high school.

With easy access to the A1 freeway, the Kirchberg district can be reached in just 20 minutes by car. Grevenmacher and Esch/Alzette are 15 and 40 minutes away by car respectively.

Schools
The Am Stengert school campus is 1.5 km from Roodt-sur-Syre. Cycles 1 to 4 are offered on a shared site. The complex also includes a sports center, a Maison Relais, a crèche en forêt and the CDI (Centre pour dédéveloppement intellectuel), created to promote inclusive education and catering for children and teenagers with intellectual disabilities.

Since 2015, the commune of Betzdorf has offered 30 places in their crèche en forêt « Bëschcrèche ». Children aged 2 to 4 enjoy the natural surroundings of the school campus under the supervision of staff trained in nature education.

The Lënster Lyc´e » Junglinster is 10.6 km away. The various high schools in Limpertsberg and Luxembourg City are 18 km away and can be reached in 20 minutes by car.
