Esch-sur-Alzette is a town in Luxembourg. Capital of the canton of the same name, it is, after Luxembourg City, the second city of the country by population with more than 36,000 inhabitants.

Esch-sur-Alzette is an important railway junction linked both to its geographical location and its steel past, it is thus connected to the capital, to all the communes of the Terres Rouges and to neighbouring France. It has two stations open to passengers: the Esch-sur-Alzette station and the most recent Belval-Université station built in the twenty-first century in connection with the conversion of the Esch-Belval district.
