Mondercange

Living in Luxembourg: Focus on Mondercange

What if you were to write a new page in your life by moving to Mondercange? The municipality has all the ingredients for an ideal compromise: a green environment and a human-sized urban centre, which borders Esch-sur-Alzette to the south-west and which is only twenty minutes away from the capital of the Grand Duchy via the A4 motorway.

With almost 7,000 inhabitants, the municipality is centred around its main town, Mondercange, where just over half the population lives and, to the east, the villages of Pontpierre (1,122 inhabitants), Bergem (1,515) and Foetz (1,122). Do you need any other figures to illustrate the balance of the locality? It includes 195 hectares of woodland and 1,500 hectares of meadows and crops. A real small town in the countryside that the whole family will enjoy.

The advantages of Mondercange

The proximity of Esch-sur-Alzette is certainly an asset, but on a daily basis, the shops and services as well as the range of leisure activities offered locally are sufficient and make Mondercange a pleasant place where the useful is combined with the pleasant.

For children, there are nurseries, pre and primary schools, a “maison relais”, and a youth centre that offers a variety of activities after school or during the weekends. Besides, thanks to the “MuMo” scheme, all schoolchildren in Mondercange can take part in a sporting activity under the guidance of qualified instructors seconded by local clubs.

Regarding secondary schools and high schools, buses provide transport to the establishments located in Esch-sur-Alzette: a few kilometres and the teenagers have arrived!

For the whole family, there are two cultural centres offering performances and artistic entertainment. And it is always worth visiting the city's heritage masterpiece: its church dating from 1738, classified as a “national monument” due to its characteristic baroque style.

There is no need to go far if you want to get some exercise in Mondercange. There are several safe playgrounds for the little ones, and for the rest of the family, the range of sports facilities is exemplary. A swimming pool, multi-sports fields, one specific field dedicated to beach volleyball, a pump track area, indoor gyms, not forgetting a “boulodrome” for pétanque enthusiasts: no excuse for sitting on the sofa with your arms crossed or your eyes glued to your smartphone!

For a simple walk or jog, the central park and the Molter park are pleasant green sites. And there are also marked trails in the surrounding countryside, including in the forest areas. However, it is for its karting circuit that visitors sometimes come from far away! But if you live there, you can enjoy it as often as you like...
